In the spite of Aravali Ranges Rajasthan receives very less rainfall. Why?

Because aravalli range acts as a barrier and prevent the monsoon winds to enter to rajasthan. Rajasthan receives less rainfall because it lies in the rain shadow area of the Aravalli hills, which obstruct the path of moisture carrying winds.

There are multiple reasons behind Rajasthan receiving scanty rainfall. Firstly the Arabian Sea Branch of South West Monsoon that causes rains in Western and South-Western India runs parallel to the Aravalli range and thus hardly causes any rainfall as the winds do not get interrupted.
