Correct Question :

B is 8 years elder to A. C is 12 years younger to A. If 8 years hence, age of A will be 1.5 times the average age of B and C. Two years back then what will be the age of A after 2 years.

Solution :

In question we have given that,

B is 8 years elder to A.

→ B = A + 8 ____ (eq 1)

C is 12 years younger to A

→ C = A - 12 ____ (eq 2)

Also said in question, If 8 years hence, age of A will be 1.5 times the average age of B and C.

According to question,

→ A + 8 = 1.5 × (B + C)/2

→ A + 8 = 1.5 × (A + 8 + A - 12)/2

[From (eq 1) & (eq 2)]

→ A + 8 = 1.5 × (2A - 4)/2

→ A + 8 = 1.5 × 2(A - 2)/2

→ A + 8 = 1.5(A - 2)

→ A + 8 = 1.5A - 3

→ A - 1.5A = - 3 - 8

→ - 0.5A = - 11

→ 0.5A = 11

→ A = 22

Present age of A = 22 years

We have to tell the age of A after 2 years.

So, after two years.. age of A = 22 + 2

→ 24 years

Age of A after two years will be 24 years.

Solution:

B= A+8.

C = A - 12

According to the given question.

A + 8 = 3/2 * ( B+C / 2)

A + 8 = 3/2* ( A+8+A-12 / 2)

A+8 = 3( 2A -4)/4

4A+32 = 6A - 12

2A = 44

A = 22 years = Present age of A

So the age of A after two years will be 22+2 = 24 years
