(i) Name the phase.

》 Ventricular systole.

(ii) Which chamber of the heart is contracting?

Ventricles.

(iii) Give reason to support your answer for the above question.

》from above diagram we can clearly say that:

  • the AV valves are closed that means the ventricles has gone just the contraction, so to prevent the back flow of blood.
  • Also the semilunar valves are open, by which the pressure of contraction will allow the valves to open and allow it flow into pulmonary artery and aorta.

》But some of the arrows are showing that ventricles are initiating to relax.

  • And also the blood is started to flow in the atrial chambers.
  • so, it means that ventricles has just passed the systolic phase. And they are in the verge of joint diastole.

More specifically it should called as END VENTRICULAR SYSTOLE.

(iv) Name the membranous covering of the heart.

Pericardium is the wall of heart layer.

(v) Define pulse.

》its also called as heart rate.

》its the measurement of number of times the heart beat per minute.
