Subject-Regarding Chaos and Massive Traffic Jam - Perennial Problem During Monsoon
Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to highlight the problem of massive traffic jam resulting in Chaos in Delhi whenever it rains. At most of the places waterlogging occurs which leads to traffic congestion on major arteries during busy office hours . Even during short rain waterlogging is reported at so many places like ITO , Munirka, Karol Bagh ,etc. This happens repeatedly every year.
We are surprised at the huge claims made by MCD every year about cleaning and resulting of drains in almost all areas. Cores of money is shown to be spent on desilting , yet the result is waterlogging! Why this situation is prevalent? I believe claims of desilting are false and money is siphoned off somewhere else.
It is high time government wakes up and takes this situation seriously. All the officials and staff connected with sanitation and desilting of drains should be accountable. Strict actions should be taken against the erring officials so that comman man does not suffer under long traffic jams. The construction activities and repairing work undergoing should also be speeded up so that roads are not left in a mess.
I hope that my letter wakes up the sleeping officials and they start taking corrective measures.
