boys. Find the number of boys and the number of girls who won​

Answer:

(i) Prize money given to x no. of winners = 5000x

   Prize money given to 100-x no. of participants = 750(100-x)

Total prize money = 160000 Rs

5000x + 750(100-x) = 160000

5000x + 75000 - 750x = 160000

4250x = 85000

x = 20 = no. of winners

(ii) 3x + x = 20

    4x = 20

    x = 5

No. of girls = 15 and no. of boys = 5
