Answer :

  • Breadth is 30cm
  • length is 35cm

Given :

  • Perimeter of rectangle is 130cm
  • length is 5cm more than the breadth

To find :

  • length and breadth

Solution :

Given the length is 5cm more than the breadth so,

  • let the length be (x + 5)cm
  • let the breadth be x cm

Given perimeter of rectangle is 130cm

As we know that

  • perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

where l is length x + 5cm , b is breadth xcm and perimeter is 130cm

⇢ perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + breadth)

⇢ 2(x + 5 + x) = 130

⇢ 2(5 + 2x) = 130

⇢ 10 + 4x = 130

⇢ 4x = 130/10

⇢ 4x = 120cm

⇢ x = 120/4

⇢ x = 30cm

Breadth is 30cm

  • Length = (x + 5) = 30 + 5 = 35cm
  • breadth = x = 30cm

Verification :

  • perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

⇢ 2(35 + 30)

⇢ 2 (65)

⇢ 130cm
