diameter takes 3 hours more than the pipe of larger diameter to fill the
tank separately, find the time taken by each pipe to fill the tank

for 1 hour = x,x-3

1/x+1/x-3=1/20/3=3/20

(x-3)+x/x(x-3)=3/20

(2x-3)20=(x²-3x)3

40x-60=3x²-9x

-3x²+49x-60

-(3x²-49x+60)=0

by factorising through quadratic formulae you will get

49+41/6;49-41/6

from this

x = 15 hours

x-3 = 15-3 = 12 hours
