Given : Monthly wages of workers

To Find : Mean wages

New Mean If :

Monthly wages of each worker is increased by 30 %

Number of workers in each category is halved

In each category Number of workers doubles and wages reduced by 20 %

Step-by-step explanation:

CI                Class Mark x         f             fx

90 - 110          100                     4            400

110 - 130         120                     6            720

130 - 150        140                     4            560

150 - 170         160                    8            1280

170 - 190         180                    18           3240

                                              40            6200

Mean wages = 6200/40  =   155

Monthly wages of each worker is increased by 30 %

Hence new mean = 155 + (30/100)155 = 201.5

Number of workers in each category is halved

Hence 6200 /2  = 3100   and 40/2 = 20

New Mean = 3100/20  = 155   remains same , no change

In each category Number of workers doubles and wages reduced by 20 %

Number of workers doubled cause no impact on mean

wages reduced by 20 %   hence new mean = 155 - (20/100)155 =  124
