In the short story 'Two Gentlemen of Verona' by A.J. Cronin, the narrator and his companion were impressed by the boys' sacrificial nature. Their eagerness, willingness and devotion to take up any odd job in order to earn money gained huge respect from the narrator and his companion. They did many odd jobs with complete honesty, dedication, sincerity, hard work and determination in order to cover the medical expenses of their only surviving family member -their sister, Lucia, who was suffering from tuberculosis.
