distance covered by car=50km

speed=70kmph

so, time is50/70=5/7

distance covered by train=100km

speed=150kmph

so, time=100/150=2/3hrs

remaining distance=400km

speed=800kmph

time=400/800=1/2hrs

total distance=50+150+400=600km

total time taken

= 5/7+2/3+1/2=30+28+21/42

= 79/42

now speed=600/79/42

=600x42/79=318.9 or 319kmph

nawgeeth: Second distance, ie distance covered in train is 100..not 150km.any ways thanks for the method.. I got correct answer using this method
