Baking soda and vinegar were added into a bottle. The mouth of the bottle

was fitted with a balloon The following image was captured after some time.

State the reason for the inflation of the balloon

A Heat released filled up the balloon

B. The balloon absorbed heat from the system.

c. The balloon expanded due to a physical change

D. A chemical change took place which released carbon dioxide gas ⇒correct Option

-----------------------------------

Answer:-

Option D:-A chemical change took place which released carbon dioxide gas.

Explaination:- As Baking soda is basic in nature and vinegar is acidic in nature , when both were added to the bottle the reaction takes place.

Acid+base➠salt+water+CO2

As we saw that CO2 is released during this reaction , so this chemical change took place which released carbon dioxide and results in inflation of the balloon which is fitted on bottle.

Moreover this whole reaction is also called nutrilisation reaction in which salt and water are released.
