actually the reaction is in this way

2Na +2HNO3→2NaNO3+H2↑

now as usually HNO3 is acid and Na is metal so the product should be salt and hydrogen gas

But, HNO3 is special acid which oxidises H2 gas into H2O when treated with any metal except Mg and Mn.

now oxygen from HNO3 is treated again with evolved H2 and forms H2O

So basically the reaction is

2Na + 2HNO3→2NaNO3 + H2↑

now,

H2 + 2HNO3→2H2O + 2NO2
