In black and white photography, the chemical Silver Bromide (or AgBr), which is a photosensitive compound, when exposed to sunlight or white light of any form and origin decomposes, and then forms Silver metal and Bromine gas.

The balanced equation for this is as follows:

2 \mathrm{AgBr}(\text { solid }) \rightarrow 2 \mathrm{Ag}(\text { Solid })+\mathrm{Br}_{2}(\text { gas }) (in\ presence\ of\ sunlight)

Which is the equation used in black and white photography.
