by the time train starts from ooty, Bangalore train would have covered 65km.
at 11am distance between two trains is 390-65=325
relative speed= 65+35=100
time = 325/100= 3.25hr= 3hr 15min
therefore they will meet at 2:15pn

Answer:

Ans: The train meet at 2: 15 pm

Step-by-step explanation:

A and B are 390 km apart

Let the trains meet at a point O, in between A and B.

First train starts at 10:00 am and travels for one hr (t=1) to reach an intermediate P at 11.00 am.

Distance traveled in one hr = AP= 1 x 65 = 65 km

Remaining distance (PB) = 390–65 = 325 km

From 11.00 am first train continues from P and second train starts from B.

First train

Let PO= d; speed = 65 km/h

Travel time,

t1= d/65 ——(1)

Second train

Distance traveled = 325-d; speed = 35 km/h

Travel time,

t2= (325-d)/35 —-(2)

At the time when the trains meet at O,

t1=t2

d/65 = (325-d)/35

d = 845/4

t1 = (845/4)/65 = 3.25 h

Alternatively,

t2 = [325-(845/4)]/35 = 3.25 h

The meeting time = 11 .00 + 3 hr 15 min= 14.25 hr = 14 : 15
