distance traveled by a = 60 - 12 = 48 kms

distance traveled by b = 60 + 12 = 72 kms

let the speed of b was x kmph

speed of a was x - 4 kmph

time will be same in both the cases and when time is constant

D1/S1 = D2/S2

48/(x - 4) = 72/x

solving

48x = 72x - 288

72x - 48x = 288

24x = 288

x = 288/24

x = 12

so speed of a was x - 4 = 12 - 4 = 8 kmph

Speed of a = 8 km/hr

Step-by-step explanation:

Distance between Merrut & Delhi = 60 km

Distance covered by b = 60 + 12 = 72 km

Distnace Covered by a = 60 - 12 = 48 km

Time taken is Same

Speed of b = 72/t   km/hr

Speed of a = 48/t km/hr

48/t = 72/t - 4

=> 48 = 72 - 4t

=> 4t = 24

=> t = 6

Speed of a = 48/6  = 8 km/hr
