Barfoed's solution is not reduced by – Sucrose.
Barfoed's test is used for detecting the presence of monosaccharide sugars (reducing sugars) in a solution.
The Barfoed's solution is a 0.33 molar solution of neutral copper acetate in 1% acetic acid solution. The formation of a red precipitate of copper oxide shows the presence of reducing sugar.
The Barfoed’s solution is weakly acidic in nature and is, therefore, reduced by monosaccharides only.Since the disaccharides are weaker reducing agents, the Barfoed’s test will be negative.
Therefore, from the options given above, sucrose, a disaccharide will not reduce Barfoed’s solution.
