BARK CELLS ARE MOSTLY IMPERVIOUS TO WATER AND GASES DUE TO DEPOSITION OF A MATERIAL CALLED SUBERIN. HOWEVER, THERE ARE PORES AT SOME LOCATIONS IN THE BARK CALLED LENTICELS THAT ALLOW ECHANGE OF GASES. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC EXPERIMENT TO PROVE THIS.
