acids will dissociate into hydroniun ions and it's respective acidic anion. while bases will dissociate into hydroxl ions and it's respective basic cation. ex of H2SO4(an acid) and NaOH(a base) are given below.

H2SO4 -> 2(H)+ + (SO4)2-

2(H)+ + 2H2O -> 2(H3O)+

NaOH -> (Na)+ + (OH)-
