Based on the position of the stomata leaves are divided into four parts

1. Epistomatic leaf- In those type of leaf stomata are present on the upper side.

Example- Floating leaves like Lotus, Victoria regia etc. come under this.

2. Hypostomatic leaf- Generally in those stomata is present on the lower surface.

Example- Most of the dicot leaves come under this type of leaf.

3. Amphistomatic leaf- In those type of the leaves both surface have stomata.

Example- Mostly monocot leaves.

4. Astomatic leaf- In those stomata is not present means stomata is absent.

Example- All submerged leaves like Vallisneria, Hydrilla etc.
