RSA and DES are for Encryption where as MD5 and SHA – 1 are utilized to produce Message Digest.

A message process/ digest is a cryptographic hash work containing a series of digits made by a restricted hashing equation.

Message digests are intended to secure the honesty of a bit of information or media to distinguish changes and modifications to any piece of a message. They are a sort of cryptography using hash esteems that can caution the copyright proprietor of any changes connected to their work.

Message process hash numbers speak to explicit records containing the secured works. One message process is allocated to specific information content. It can reference a change made intentionally or inadvertently, yet it prompts the proprietor to recognize the alteration just as the individual is rolling out the improvement. Message digests are algorithmic numbers.

Based on the network security protocols, among algorithms RSA, SHA-1, DES and MD5, the ones used to generate message digests are SHA-1 and MD5.

The reason behind this is that DES and RSA are used solely for encryption purposes.

They cannot be used for the generation of message digests.

Only SHA-1 and MD5 can be utilized in order to do that.
