Parenchyma cells are living whereas sclerenchyma cells are dead. Parenchyma cells retain their power of division whereas sclerenchyma cells cannot divide.

Parenchyma cell walls are thin whereas the cell walls of sclerenchyma cells are highly lignified and hence thick.

The cells contain cytoplasm whereas the sclerenchyma cells are empty.

Parenchyma tissue acts as a packing tissue, provides support  to plants and also stores food. Sclerenchyma provides strength and protection  to the plants.

parenchyma:

they are living cells and they are isodiametric in shape.

cell walls are thin and made up of cellulose. it stores food, waste products and forms packing tissue

collenchyma:

they are living cells, with thick corners

cell walls are thickned at corners with extra deposition of cellulose and pectin.

it gives mechanical support and carry out photosynthesis.

sclerenchyma:

they are dead cells, long and narrow with tapered ends.

cell walls are thick due to heavy deposition of legnin.

it gives rigidity and mechanical strength to the plants.
