Heyya!

=> Decantation is a process for the separation of mixtures, by removing a layer of liquid, generally one from which a precipitate has settled.

=> Sedimentation is defined as the process of settling down of the heavier components present in a mixture. For example: When the mixture of sand in water is allowed to stand undisturbed for some time, it is observed that sand settles at the bottom.

=> Filtration is separation technique used to separate solid from liquid by using a separation medium like paper or filtration funnel.

=> The process in which chlorine is added to make it fit for drinking is called chlorination.

=> The separation of components of mixtures based upon their boiling points is called distillation.

for e.g a mixture of acetone and water is separated by the process of distillation.

=> Matter is anything that occupies space and has mass. The book that we read, the water that we drink, the food that we eat, the clothes that we wear, etc. are all examples of matter. Scientists have called everything that is present in the universe as matter.

=> A molecule is a group of two or more atoms formed when these atoms chemically combine with each other. These atoms may either be of same of or different elements. For example, 2 atoms of Hydrogen and one atom of oxygen combine to form one molecule of water. Similarly, 2 hydrogen atoms combine with each other to form a molecule of hydrogen.

=> An atom is defined as the basic unit of matter. By basic, we mean that it is the building block of matter. It is the smallest particle of an element that can take part in a chemical reaction. Every atom consists of protons, neutrons and electrons.

=> An element is a pure substance which consists of only one type of particles. These particles can be atoms or molecules. For example Carbon is made up of only carbon atoms, gold is made up of only gold atoms, Hydrogen gas consists of Hydrogen molecules (formed from two atoms of Hydrogen) etc.

=> A compound is a pure substance which consists of two or more atoms of different elements, combined in a fixed ratio by mass. Also the properties of a compound are may or may not be different from that of the combining elements. Some examples of compound include water (formed from atoms of two elements-oxygen and hydrogen), sodium chloride (formed from sodium and chlorine), ammonia etc.

=> the Atmosphere is the thin layer of air that arounds the earth. the gravitational force of the earth holds the atmosphere around it it protects us from the harmful rays and scorching heat of the sun it consists of a number of gases, dust and water vapour. the changes in the atmosphere produce changes in the whether and climate.

=> fossil fuel is a general term for buried combustible geologic deposits of organic materials formed from decayed plants and animals that have been converted to crude oil, coal, natural gas, heavy oils by exposure to heat and pressure in the earth's crust over millions of years.

Hope it helps!☺️
