Batman, Wolverine and Captain America have been chosen to protect the world from villains. Batman and Wolverine go and find ammunition. Batman finds 75 boxes, whereas Wolverine finds 45 boxes. They split the boxes equally and Captain America gives them $1400. How much money did Batman and Wolverine get from the sum, considering having split the boxes up equally?

What we need to understand :

Even though they split the boxes equally, their payments will be according to their contribution.

Splitting them equally would mean splitting them into two equal groups but this doesn't change the fact that they brought different amounts of boxes.

We can get each one's payment using the contribution ratio.

Let B represent Batman and W wolverine.

B : W = 75 : 45 = 5 : 3

The total payment = $ 1400

B ' s payment = 5 / 8 × 1400 = $ 825

W' s payment = 3 / 8 × 1400 = $ 525
