The genocide of 1994, was a result of the conflict between Hutu tribesmen and ethnic Tutsis. Armed Hutu tribesmen killed several thousands of Tutsis. An estimated seven hundred thousand children were orphaned or separated from their parents. With no one to care for them, several hundred of them died and those who survived, resorted to vices for their continued survival.
