becl2is a polar covalent compound and as water is polar covalenT compound
polar covalent compounds get easily dissolved in polar covalent compounds so do bacl2
sO it get easily hydolyzed

Hey dear,

● BeCl2 can be easily hydrolyzed because -
- Due to its small size, Be forms covalent bond with Cl to form BeCl2.
- But, in covalent bond too, Be is high electropositivity, hence Be has max polarizing power.
- Thus BeCl2 molecule has partial ionic character and can dissolve in aqueoes solution.
BeCl2 + 2H2O → Be(OH)2 + 2HCl
