the british thought that because indian were united and could fight against british and were trying their best to get freedom that was main reason british thought that indian could rule themselves.

singhyashna62: um actually that isn't the answer as britsh had lost because the revolt toke place as a union and together for a greater cause british lost hoping winning over india.

Because the Indians realized that they had to unite and fight against the British. When the British knew that they were united and that they had overcome the caste and tradition system, they knew they'd be leaving before the next 100 years.
