Ben appreciates grandfather saying 'its a good thing he did. Later he calls him a 'drunken old beggar'. Why does he change his opinion about grandfather?

At first when Mrs. Slater told that yesterday grandfather has gone out to submit his insaurence premium then Ben appreciated him, but later when Victoria said that grandfather has not paid his premium then Ben changed his opinion and considered him a drunken old beggar.
The daughters of Abel and there husbands were only concerned about his money and hence they criticized him for not summiting his premium ..

Ben changes his opinion about grandfather and calls him a ‘drunken old beggar’ later because he realises that he has not paid his insurance premiums and so they will not get any benefit of money from his insurance
