Yes benzene is a aromatic . because it's structural formula contain alternate double bonds.

aliza2994: only having alternate bond is condition for aromaticity...???
Good2468: yes but only double bond
zander07: well not only double bond..
aliza2994: then
zander07: i told you the rules
aliza2994: yes
aliza2994: thanx
zander07: ya thats it
zander07: no prob

Yes benzene is aromatic compound.
An aromtic hydrocarbon or arene (or sometimes aryl hydrocarbon) is a hydrocarbon with sigma bonds and delocalized pi electrons between carbon atoms.
Due to resonance, benzene acquires a partial double bond characters between the carbon atoms( called pi bonds due to pi electrons).
Hope it helps

aliza2994: n. ??
aliza2994: what does n show...??
zander07: n is the non negative integer
aliza2994: thank you...
zander07: n is not the characteristic of molecule
aliza2994: okay...
zander07: u didnt get it?
zander07: see 4n+2 is just to verify the number of pi bonds. Take the example of benzene, if u count there are 6 pi electrons. So what will be the value of n to make 4n+2 equals to six? The value will be one and as the value of n is a non negtive ,non fractional integer, it is verified that benzene's aromatic
aliza2994: Ok got it
aliza2994: thank you
