Benzoic acid liberates carbon dioxide from carbonates whereas phenol doesn't, why?

HCO3- ion is not strong enough to pull the hydrogen out of Phenol. Phenol has a range of pKa which lies between 8 to 14, on average 10. So Phenol does not react NaHCO3 despite being an acid. ... But NaHCO3 gives CO2 while reacting with organic acids like Carboxylic acid which has pKa 4–5.
