  • Mendeleev, when preparing his periodic table found some elements which were yet not found, but whose properties he could predict.
  • Apart from Gallium, which was called eka aluminium, he left spaces for Germanium and Scandium.
  • He gave them names eka silicon and eka boron respectively.
