The Composition of air is basically Oxygen — 21 percent. Argon — 0.93 percent. Carbon dioxide — 0.04 percent. Trace amounts of neon, helium, methane, krypton and hydrogen, as well as water vapor, by volume, dry air contains 78.09% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.04% carbon dioxide, and small amounts of other gases. Air also contains a variable amount of water vapor, on average around 1% at sea level, and 0.4% over the entire atmosphere.

(i) Nitrogen

• Oxygen is the second most plentiful gas in the air. Humans and animals take oxygen from the air. Green plants produce oxygen during photosynthesis.Oxygen supports burning and is very important for plant survival. Thus, oxygen really plays a vital role in life.
(iii) Carbon dioxide
• Carbon dioxide is another important gas. Green plants use carbon dioxide to make their food and release oxygen. Humans or animals release carbon dioxide. The amount of carbon dioxide released by humans or animals seems to be equal to the amount used by the plants which make a perfect balance.
