Length = 16 cm. Breadth = 9cm

Area = Length x Breadth = 16 cm x 9 cm = 144 cm2

Given that the area of the square is equal to the area of the rectangle. So let the side of the square be equal to A.

Area of square = A x A = A2

=> A^2= 144 cm2

:. A = √ 144 cm2 = 12 cm

Therefore, the side of the square is 12 cm

Area of rectangle = area of square

Area of rectangle = length  x breadth = 16 x 9 = 144 cm²

therefore, area of square = 144 cm² = side²

side = \tt{\sqrt{144}} = 12 cm

length of side of square = 12 cm
