Between distance and displacement which is greater? Why?

it is simple. displacement and distance are totally different. distance is the PATH of the object which was in motion and displacement is the SMALLEST DISTANCE between the initial and the final position.
Most of the time only displacement is smaller because the direction of the travelled object would have been changed but at times it can also be same because the object might have travelled only in it's straight path.
