The Russian company has already held preliminary negotiations with a number of Indian companies. Its CEO Alexei Krivoruchko was quoted by a Delhi daily on Monday that “we are ready to collaborate with any company having all necessary permits from the Indian government authorities and actual feasibility for organising such kind of production”. He, however, refused to reveal the name of the Indian company that Kalashnikov will be collaborating.
Without getting into specifics of the kind of rifles to be made in India with Kalashnikov’s support, the CEO said the Indian firm will first go for the popular AK series and then expand to other weapons. Better to start the collaboration in organising the small arms production — the assault rifles of the AK series and later consider launching into the production of pistols and sniper rifles, he said.
