A Gurjar warrior from Rajasthan, Devnarayan was known to have founded the Baisla Clan.

He was believed to be the incarnation of Lord Vishnu and was extensively worshipped as a folk deity, in Rajasthan and parts of Madhya Pradesh.

A stamp was issued on him by the Indian post on 2 Sep 1992 of denomination INR 5 to commemorate his glory as a folk deity.
