bhawna witnessed an interesting game at the fair. A duck was floating in a tub. when a plate Containing grains of rice in one side and some pebbles,was bought closer, with the rice portion facing the duck moved towards the plate.but when the same plate was bought close to the duck, with pebbles in front,the duck moved away from plate. find out how it is possible.(hint: two bar magnets were attached at the bottom of the tub and plate respectively)

Answer : This happened as underneath the plate the bar magnet's north side was under the rice and the south side was placed under the side containing pebbles. So, underneath the tub in which the duck was there, underneath the front of the tub , the south side of the magnet was placed. And as we know, opposite sides attract and similar sides repel, so the duck was going towards north side ( rice) and going away from the south side of the magnet ( pebbles).
