Bittu spends 1 upon 3 of the money on books, 1 upon 4 of the remaining on the food and 2 upon 5 of the remaining on travel . Now he is left with Rs 450. How much money did he have in the beginning?
Let M denotes the total money that Bittu had in the beginning.
Hence from above data we get following relation,
M - M/3 - M*(1 - 1/3)*(1/4) - M*(1 - 1/3)*(1 - 1/4)*(2/5) = 450
or M*(1 - 1/3 - 1/6 - 1/5) = 450
or (9/30)*M = 450
or M = 450*30/9 = 1500 (Rs) [Ans]
