The Gupta empire was founded by Sri Gupta in 240-280 CE. Then his son Ghatotkacha, ruled the empire in 280-319 CE. Chandragupta I succeeded the empire in 319-335 CE. After marrying princess Kumaradevi of Magadh, he conquered many kingdoms and was called as 'king of Kings
