in india 5th sep. is celebrated as teacgers day as a mark of tribute to the contributions made by teachers to the society. 5th sep. is the birthday of a great teacher dr.sarvpalli radhakrishna who was a staunch believer of education and was thw well-known diplomat ,scholar,president of india and above all the teacher. when dr.radhakrishna became the president of india in 1962,he was approched by some of his students and requested him to allow them to celebrate 5th sep. his birthday .in reply he said"instead of celedrating my birthday seperately it would be my proud previlage is sep. 5 is observed as  teacher's day. the request showed dr.radhakrishna's love for the teaching profession.from then onwards,the day has been observed as teacher's day in india.
