The history of art can be traced back to as early as the pre-historic times. Parietal art in the form of petroglyphs and rock paintings have been discovered in the Neolithic period. While a petroglyph denotes an image created on stone or rocks through carving or incision; rock paintings were illustrations created on rocks.
