✔️To make things even more complicated, white is a mix of all colors of light. So all colors are represented from the black and white TV (well, those in the spectrum emitted by the phosphor). This can be seen with an appropriate prism.

✔️But black is the absence of light. You will see no colors from the black when it goes through a spectrum. Because it doesn't. Pure black is 0 photons. 0 photons go through your prism.

✔️So black and white isn't really two colors. It is varying amounts of intensity of its one color, white. It is monochromatic.

✔️It does a good job of capturing the intensity of light reflected or emitted by the objects on the set, but if does not do a good job of representing the colors of those objects.

Black is the absence of color (and is therefore not a color)

Explanation:

✔️When there is no light, everything is black. Test this out by going into a photographic dark room. There are no photons of light. In other words, there are no photons of colors.

White is not a colour---

✔️Colours are made because rays of coloured light are absorbed into whatever object. With white, all coloured rays are reflected and none are absorbed. It's not a colour, it's actually the lack of any colour.
