Answer: 124 g of sucrose is required.

Explanation:

ΔT=i x Kf x molality

ΔT=(100-99.63)°C =0.37°C=0.37K

Kf=0.512 for water

i=1, as sucrose does not ionize

Finding molality,

m=0.37/0.512=0.723

No of moles= molality x mass of solution

                   =0.723x500

                   =0.361 moles

Mass of sucrose required=No of moles x molecular mass of sucrose

                                           =0.361 x 342

                                           =124 g of sucrose
