The bond angle in regulra tetrahedral is 109° 28' this presence of bulky alkyl group on O atom that repel each other and counter balance the repulsion due to lone pair an O atom on bond pairs and results in bond angle slightly greater than tetrahedral angle

⏭️ Bond angle of ether is greater than that of tetrahedral bond angle of 109°28′ . This is due to the fact that internal repulsion by the hydrocarbon part is greater than the external repulsion of the lone pair on oxygen. Alkyl groups in an ether act as a hydrophobic part whereas oxygen acts as a hydrophilic part.
