Hi students,
◆ Halogens -
Elements from gr. 17 of modern periodic table are called halogens.
These include F, Cl, Br, I, At, Uus.
◆ Bond dissociation enthalpy of halogens -
- Energy to break a particular bond in a molecule is called bond dissociation energy.
- Bond dissociation enthalpies of halogens decreases going down the group.
- For F2, bond dissociation enthalpy is exceptionally lower that other halogens due its very small atomic size & high electronegativity.
Hope this helps.
