Hi students,

◆ Halogens -

Elements from gr. 17 of modern periodic table are called halogens.

These include F, Cl, Br, I, At, Uus.

◆ Bond dissociation enthalpy of halogens -

  • Energy to break a particular bond in a molecule is called bond dissociation energy.
  • Bond dissociation enthalpies of halogens decreases going down the group.
  • For F2, bond dissociation enthalpy is exceptionally lower that other halogens due its very small atomic size & high electronegativity.
