Activated carbon is used for decolorising.
- The activated carbon or the activated charcoal is a special type of processed charcoal which has more amount of surface pores than normal charcoal.
- When the activated charcoal gets in the contact of the large colour molecules, the smaller pores gets attached with those bigger colour molecules and decolorises the whole coloured solution.
For this reason, the activated charcoal or the activated carbon is widely used as a decolorising agent.
