Bones are classified mainly on the basis of shape. There are four types of bones on the basis of this classification:

1. Long Bones:
   The consist of a shaft with a knob at each end.
   Eg. Bones of arms,legs et cetera.

2.Short Bones:
   They are box-like and show little movement.
    Eg. carpals and tarsals.

3.Flat Bones:
   They are flat in shape.
    Eg. scapula,sternum

4.Irregular Bones:
   They are complex in shape.
    Eg. facial bones
