b) if he adds a few drops of lemon juice to disstilled water, will it make any difference to his observations? Explain

Answer:

a)no current passes as distilled water is a non-polar covalent compound.

b)Yes,it will make difference as lemon juice contains citric acid which causes the ionisation of distilled water and as a result the current start passing through it.

c)If the water conducts electricity, electrolysis occurs and water splits into hydrogen ions amd oxygen ions and When electrodes are placed,the positively charged hydrogen ions move towards cathode while the negatively charged oxygen ions will move towards the anode.
