Belgium and Sri Lanka both had diverse population, but both followwd totally different path.

Belgium understood the population diversity and gave everyone equal rights, for this they had to ammend their Constitution 4 times.

Whereas, In Sri Lanka the Sinhalese were the majority and did not treat the tamils equal. They formed the government and declared Sinhala as the official language. But when tamils asked for equal opportunity and rights and Tamil also as an official language, they dinied. So this lead to Civil War in the country.

In Belgium they shared the power equally among the French speaking and the dutch speak.

In Sri Lanka only the Sinhala people formed and ruled the government.
