The stories of Belgium and Sri Lanka reveal that in spite of being the democratic countries both countries dealt with the power sharing differently like :

=> In Belgium the leaders realised that the unity of the country is possible only by respecting the feelings and interests of different communities and regions.

Such a realisation resulted in mutually acceptable arrangements for sharing power.

=> Contrary to it, Sri Lanka shows that if a majority community wants to force its dominance over others and refuses to share power, it can undermine the unity of the country.

Both Belgium and Sri Lankan are democratic countries but they follow different system of power sharing. In Belgium shared equal powers to all communities, i.e. French and German speaking community. However, Sri Lankan followed a system called Majoritarianism by promoting the Sinhalese which led to a civil war.
