Both calcium and magnesium are heavier than water but still float over it . Explain

akansha20006998: I'm not able to ans this que.
But just know Ca and Mg both are metals and metals react with water and H2 gas is liberated
So, these metals float on the surface due to accumulation of H2 gas bubbles under the metal surface which provide sufficient surface area to float

Ur welcome✌
ram16769: brilliant answer,,,,it may correct one,,,,,but i can't understand that less than ,,,symbols
akansha20006998: May I know what "less than" symbol are you talking about?
ram16769:
what it indicates,,,
akansha20006998: I'm sorry I'm still not getting ur que.

in water substances with less density float on water and with more density will sink

is it,,,it may be density factor,,,

the material which has higher density than water will immerse in water,,,so calcium ND magnesium may have lower density than water.,density=mass by volume,,,,hope it helps
